Original review 21/07/2006 (The one where we saw Frank Carson!):
Really a restaurant.  Most expensive pint in town (£3.80 a pint!).  Quite nice in the Summer with a nice Courtyard style beer garden.  A bit cramped round the bar inside though.  Did we mention that it was expensive.

Special Guest Appearance: Frank Carson (See photographic evidence in the gallery!)

Re-asssessment 21/09/2010 comments:
No sign of Frank tonight - is he still alive? (Checked on Wikipedia 06/10/10 and yes, he is still with us.  Also his nephew Trevor Carson is Sunderland's reserve goalkeeper!).  Gilbies still has just a small bar area and is still stupidly expensive (£3.80 for a pint of Kaltenburg)

Its mainly a place for dining but it does have a nice garden/courtyard.

James Grindley - cyclist and picture restorer - met his friends here.
