Breaking News...

The Wye Inn on Holme Lacy Road is closed!?!

Whilst walking past the Wye Inn at the weekend I noticed some strange activity occurring. This resulted in the above sign being displayed on Monday morning. Is this the latest in a long line of pubs to be brought down by the credit crunch, or is there some other explanation?

If anyone has any information or views on the closure then let us know. But I for one will sorely miss the place; after all it was the highest ranked pub south of the river (see it's original review here)- let's hope it re-opens soon!

Re-reviews Added

Last Monday the HMPG team had a very enjoyable evening re-reviewing some pubs in town. The point of this exercise was to give you, our avid readers, more up-to-date reviews of the public houses; and a handy coincidence was that we got quite drunk! So every one's a winner!
To see the reviews just click on the pub names below:
The Left Bank (top picture), The Stagecoach, The Grapes and The Black Lion (bottom two pictures).
We have also received a glowing review of The Barrels by Wallace Reading, click here to read the review in it's entirety.
Keep the reviews coming in, and share with the world your experiences of the pubs you have visited. Keep checking back because soon we will be compiling a shortlist for the '2008 Hereford Pub of the Year'. As ever this will be a poll- and we invite each and every reader to vote for their favourite pub!

The Lich to re-open soon?

After the abrubt closure of the Lichfield Vaults a few months back it looks like there might be signs of life...

As we wandered down Church Street last night and peered through the window there were definite signs that some work was taking place. I didn't look for too long though as a rather large black labrador was staring back at me.

Does anyone know the latest gossip on what is happening with the Lich? If so drop us a line in the usual way.

Roving Reporter Rob E visits Southend and London

Our independent reviewer Rob E has been out and about reviewing the Pubs of Britain. On a recent Hereford United away trip he checked out the Golden Lion at Southend (pictured right). Rob decribes the pub as a 'Scruffy pub but with character'. Check out the full review here.

The next day he moved onto London where he visited Doggett's in the Blackfriars Bridge area of the city (pictured left). This is an impressive sounding pub with 4 differently themed floors. Click here for the full review.

New Reviews Added

Last night we visited a new bar in town- Arte's on the corner of St. Ethelbert and St. Owen's Street (formerly known as Doodies).

What we found was very pleasant. Although very posh and expensive looking we are pleased to announce that the pricing is reasonable and is definitely worth checking out. See our full review here.
Whilst on our travels we have also re-reviewed The Barrels, The Queen's Arms and The Grandstand. Check out their new standings here- and you will also notice a new section added; that of closed down pubs- if anyone has any news regarding the re-opening of these pubs then drop us a line.
We have also received another review from our most prolific reviewer: "Rob E". He has already reviewed 18 pubs for the Guide, and his 19th review is of The Old Market Inn.
